The name “Le Thiers ® Gentleman by Fontenille Pataud” is a tribute to our city of Thiers. Like Solingen in Germany or Sheffield in England, Thiers is since several centuries the hub of the French knives and cutlery industry. Le Thiers ® Gentleman by Fontenille Pataud offers a good balance between the blade and the handle thanks to its special forged spring. A groove into the back of the spring allows the blade to fold in. Le Thiers ® Gentleman by Fontenille Pataud provides a secure locking blade, a smooth mechanism and a solid blade stop to keep a long edge to your blade.

Handle : Carbon fiber coming from aeronautic industry. Excellent mechanical property : 15% better than commercial carbon fibers. That green material is made of 100% recycled fiber & resin. Furthermore, that process does not produce any waste

Blade : Stainless swedish 14C28N steel , 3 mm thick. Hardness: 58-59 Hrc. In order to provide a comfortable balance and a nicer knife, the blade tip folds into a groove which is milled into the spring.

Size and weight : 12 cm folded, 20cm open, approx. 100 grams.

Tecnical tips : The ' Bee 'spring with its lock-back system is made from 3 mm thick stainless steel Z20c13. A solid hardenned bladestop is provided : That helps maintain the edge of the blade. The bee is solid and forged into the spring. The spring and bee are then hand-chased with a file : this denotes artisan quality, unlike inexpensive mass market products that have welded springs and are machine decorated. These details create a unique Le Thiers knife, making each knife one of a kind.

Included : Numbered Guarantee certificate, leather pouch. The pouch is an artisan product too, hand made in France.

This Rinkhals takes you back to simpler time, when your first pocket knife opened and closed without any locking mechanism. This updated version of the classic slip joint is 6.5” overall with a 2.8” blade and a full sized 3.7” frame with a 2.8” handle inlay. It features a beautiful design with a versatile, RWL34 stainless steel blade, a nail nick for easy opening and a thumb notch for comfort. Just like your old Buck®, Western® or Case®, the blade features a mirror finish. The hand-sewn, leather slip protects it in your pocket and the matching bead attached to the leather lanyard makes it easy to access. This lightweight knife sheds ounces by using Titanium for the frame, pocket clip, collar and screws and only weighs 2.3 ounces!

The slip joint mechanism of this folding knife features an innovative “safety “when it is approximately halfway open which causes the blade to be under very little tension so it is easy to move your fingers out of the way before tension builds again and assists you in closing (or opening) the knife. Most slip joint knives have continuous tension throughout their entire range, which in some cases causes the blade to close before you can get your fingers out of the way. Since this knife does not have a mechanism that locks it open, always cut with the blade going away from you to prevent injury.

The folder is 6.5” overall with a 2.8” blade and a full sized 3.7” frame with a 2.8” handle inlay.
